Wonderful Truth
Well, another week has rushed past and been added to the mountain of memories and experiences that comprise our lives. This week has held a bit of everything - good, bad, happy, sad, sunshine and rain. We have been formed and fashioned a little by all that has happened to us and by what we have done to others.
On this day, the sky was perfect, the air fresh and it seemed as if all were right with the world - at least for a moment. This towering tree caught my attention as I walked past. How many days has it seen? How many good and how many bad? How much laughter has it heard and how many tears have fallen across the years as it spread it branches toward the heavens? I wonder how many summer droughts have threatened its life and how many freezes challenged its strength and stamina.
But it stands tall, waiting for spring and another chance for leaves to sprout and the calendar to turn another page. It is comforting to see this tree, framed by the blue sky, endure.
Scripture teaches that God’s love endures forever. That means that God’s love remains through the good and bad, the happy and sad, the sunshine and the rain. As much as things change, as much as life swirls around us, this constant love holds us fast. When misunderstood, when suffering, when life and love seem pointless, God remains steadfast.
From time to time it is good to stop and remember this wonderful truth. Sometimes we need to help someone else remember this wonderful truth. Always we need to live out of this wonderful truth in such a way that it is evident to all around us. We can stand, even In our own struggles, like a tree against the bright blue sky that proclaims, “God’s steadfast love endures forever”.
Peace.
