Attitude
As I walked, I approached the main buildings of the church from a new direction. And am I glad I did! The view was wonderful. The bright blue sky. The cross rising out of the trees. The image appeared to me as a comforting sign that all would be well. A new day bringing new opportunities. Fair weather after the storms. Sunshine after the snow and ice. Joy in a new day.
Each day is an opportunity to see and experience life in new ways. Things will not stay the same as they have been, whether for good or ill. We do not have to stay the same as we have been. We can choose to be people who grow and learn, who fail and try again, who find joy and beauty in each other and in our world.
We read in the letter to the Philippians, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think on these things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me, put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”
If this be our attitude at the start of each new day, we will experience life in an abundant way, regardless of the weather, regardless of the circumstances. We will have in our hearts a blue sky.
Peace.
